Not Just another Teen Movie

Student of the Year is currently the talk of the town! This ‘upcoming movie’ from Dharma Productions will be their fifth film directed by Karan Johar and stars Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. This movie is unlike any other Karan Johar movies one has ever seen, which includes Bollywood blockbusters like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and My Name is Khan. All these movies were family- oriented and were a perfect blend of emotions.                                                                        student-of-the-year by Karan Johar

Two years after making My Name is Khan which was a declared Super Hit, the movie touched millions of heart! The sensitive issue of terrorism was brilliantly portrayed by this movie which also poured several critically acclaimed reviews in the movie’s basket. After multiple successes like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, expectations have piled up for Karan Johar to deliver something spectacular. With this movie, Karan Johar is trying something he has never tried before; this will be his first directorial venture without Shahrukh Khan in the lead role. Student of the Year stars not one, but three new faces in the lead role. However, the fact that it is directed by Karan Johar has still got the audience engrossed as he has always delivered.  The star cast has a long standing relationship with Bollywood. For instance, Sidharth Malhotrais the brother of the director Punit Malhotra, Alia Bhatt is the daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Varun Dhawan is the son of David Dhawan.

Student of the Year is a youthful movie with the essence of a college life, for which these young actors were a perfect choice.  Three young people meet in a college and the story grows from there. Many have pointed out that the basic plot reminds them of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai as it was the only Karan Johar movie where its three principle characters were college students. However, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai takes a different turn and later it shows the life of the 3 characters Rahul, Tina and Anjali after the college, whereas in Student of the Year the entire movie is based in college and the three character’s story throughout the college life.

Claimed to be a college movie, Student of the Year has much more in it that will potentially target other groups of audience apart from just youngsters. Displaying emotions like love, betrayal, friendship, jealousy and much more, everyone will be able to relate to this movie! Slated to release on 19th October, 2012 Student of the Year will be a sure-sure entertainer.
